The Forces on the Fairways Project was established by The Palozola Foundation in 2018. The purpose of the project is to implement the mission statement of the foundation by "working to heal the body, mind and spirit of our wounded through golf. " We feel that golf can have a therapeutic and healing affect by providing a good challenge, attainable goals, a healthy distraction, time in nature and friendly competition.
Forces on the Fairways is meant to concisely summarize our mission, emphasizing that our focus is on Veterans and that we use golf as the medium through which we seek help heal the physical and psychic wounds that thousands, if not hundreds of Veterans returning from their service to our great country have suffered. We also recognize that the families of Veterans are also affected and we seek to introduce them to the game.
Through our annual Forces on the Fairways Golf Tournament, we seek to bring in funds that will:
Allow us to partner with area Veteran help organizations to address PTSD issues.
Partner with community golf courses to increase accessibility for wounded golfers through the purchase of handicapped golf carts.
Create clinics to assist with Veterans with PTSD, provide entry into the game and help those with disabling wounds to modify their swings or use prosthetic devices to play golf.
Create scholarships for children of Veterans, along with providing equipment and golf clinics to help them get started in the game of a lifetime.
2018 Forces on the Fairways events include an 18 Hole Scramble Golf Tournament October 1, 2018 at The Missouri Bluffs Golf Club and a Day of Healing Golf Clinic for veterans suffering from PTSD.
Please help us help Veterans through participating in, or sponsoring our annual Forces on the Fairways Golf Tournament, or making a donation to The Palozola Foundation.
